Fascinating counterpoint to the mainstream alignment narrative. The framing of AI as cultural evolution rather than an alien threat is refreshing. I do think the comparison to flat earthers might be a bit harsh—there are legitmate concerns about emergent behaviors in complex systems—but your point about real intelligence being fundamentally creative is solid. The idea that we're trying to "align" something thats actually just an externalization of our own collective intelligence creates an interesting paradox. Worth thinking about wether the whole alignment frame is just anthropomophizing tools.

Thanks for reading and commenting. This is about a year old and I would probably change a few things now. I would definitely add that looking at AI as a discrete and separate entity is not only incorrect from an evolutionary standpoint, but also from a functional systems point of view. There is no AI independent from the human and humanity that uses it. The AI system is really Artificial Intelligence x Human Intelligence = Technological Intelligence.
